The technology

Why quad wavelength?

Not all laser hair removal systems are the same. Traditional systems commonly work on one wavelength. Ours combines four within one platform, which gives far more flexibility across different skin tones, hair depths and treatment areas.

755nm

Particularly useful for targeting more superficial follicles and finer pigmented hair.

808nm

One of the most established wavelengths in diode hair reduction, balancing penetration and melanin absorption.

940nm

Adds a further depth of energy delivery and complements the other three.

1064nm

Deeper penetrating with comparatively lower melanin absorption, which makes it valuable when building protocols for darker skin tones.

Rather than treating everyone the same way, your settings are selected after your consultation, skin assessment, hair assessment and patch test.

PCOS and hormonal hair

Experienced in treating hair associated with PCOS

Unwanted facial and body hair is one of the most frustrating symptoms for people living with polycystic ovary syndrome and other hormonal conditions. We have extensive experience treating hormonal growth.

  • Upper lip
  • Jawline
  • Sideburns
  • Neck
  • Full face

  • Abdomen

  • Back

A realistic approach

Hormonally influenced hair behaves differently from ordinary body hair, which is why we do not promise unrealistic results or put every client through the same standard course.

Laser can achieve substantial reduction in suitable pigmented hair, but hormonal influences can stimulate new growth over time. Many clients have an initial course followed by occasional maintenance, and your plan is reviewed throughout according to how you respond.

Important. Laser hair removal can reduce unwanted hair associated with PCOS, but it does not treat or cure PCOS itself.

Our clinic is discreet, respectful and non judgemental, and your programme is designed around you and your goals. You will always be addressed using your preferred name and pronouns, and consultations and treatments are carried out professionally and confidentially.

We are committed to an inclusive service where LGBTQ+ clients are treated with dignity, respect and professionalism. Everyone is welcome at Skintastic.

Darker skin tones

One skin type does not fit all

Treating darker skin safely requires appropriate technology, appropriate parameters and an experienced practitioner. Our quad wavelength platform extends through to 1064nm, which allows protocols to be tailored across the Fitzpatrick spectrum after individual assessment and patch testing.

This matters because incorrect laser settings can increase the risk of burns, blistering and changes to pigmentation. It is the reason we will not treat without a patch test.

Parameters are selected according to

  • Fitzpatrick skin type
  • Skin colour
  • Hair colour, thickness and density
  • Treatment area
  • Previous laser treatment
  • Sun exposure
  • Medical history
  • Your individual patch test response

Questions

The things people ask before booking

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients need a course, because laser works best when the hair is in the right stage of its growth cycle. There is no single number that applies to everyone. Your course can be influenced by the treatment area, hair density and thickness, skin type, hormones, PCOS, age, medication, previous treatment and your individual growth cycle. Your progress is assessed throughout rather than treating you to a predetermined number of sessions.

Will it permanently remove every hair?

Laser hair removal is best described as long term or permanent hair reduction rather than a guarantee that every hair disappears forever. Successful treatment produces a significant and long lasting reduction in suitable treated hair. Hormonal changes can occasionally stimulate previously inactive follicles, which is why some clients choose occasional maintenance after their initial course.

Does it hurt?

Our system has advanced cooling designed to keep the skin comfortable. Most clients describe brief warmth or a light snapping sensation. Sensitivity varies by area and by person. Intimate areas and dense coarse hair can feel stronger at first, and treatments generally become more comfortable as hair density reduces.

Can I have laser hair removal if I have PCOS?

Yes, suitable clients with PCOS can have laser hair removal. It can significantly reduce suitable pigmented facial and body hair. Because PCOS can continue to stimulate growth, maintenance treatments may sometimes be needed. Laser does not treat the underlying hormonal condition.

Is it suitable for transgender clients?

Absolutely. We regularly welcome transgender and gender diverse clients and can create individual programmes for facial, beard, chest, body and intimate hair reduction. Your consultation is confidential and your goals are discussed respectfully.

Do you offer male intimate laser hair removal?

Yes. We treat individual areas such as the pubic region, penis and scrotum or peri-anal area, through to complete Male Brazilian and Male Hollywood. All intimate treatments are performed professionally and confidentially.

Results

Before and after

Our own clients and clients of clinics we supply. Hair grows in cycles, so a course of treatments is always needed. What you are looking at is progress across a course, not a single session.

Results vary from person to person. Hair colour, hair thickness, skin type, hormones and medication all affect how a course responds, and laser treatment achieves permanent hair reduction rather than permanent removal. Most people need a course of six to eight sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart, with occasional maintenance afterwards. A patch test and consultation are required before your first treatment.
