How the treatment is approached
Nd:YAG pigment treatment and IPL are distinct options. Laser can target selected pigment with defined wavelengths, while IPL may suit broader areas with a mixture of sun-related colour changes. The most appropriate option depends on the diagnosis, depth, skin tone and pattern of pigmentation.

Pigment after inflammation or injury requires particular caution. Further inflammation can worsen the colour, so treatment is not automatic.
Melasma concerns
Melasma is a recurring pigment condition and can worsen after heat or laser. We do not promise removal or assume that laser is the right first option.

Results & recovery
What to expect
Some suitable spots temporarily darken or develop light crusting before settling. Improvement is gradual and recurrence is possible, especially with further sun exposure. A patch test helps assess response but cannot guarantee an uncomplicated full treatment.
Suitability and risks
Possible effects include redness, swelling, crusting, blistering, temporary or lasting lightening or darkening, and scarring. Undiagnosed, irregular, bleeding or changing lesions are not treated cosmetically.

Before you attend
Start with a consultation and patch test at least 48 hours before treatment. Tell us about medicines, recent tanning, previous reactions and changes in health. Do not stop prescribed medicines without your prescriber’s advice.
Aftercare and follow-up
Avoid tanning before treatment. Follow the prescribed skincare pause, do not pick darkened spots or crusts, and protect treated skin from sun exposure. Contact the clinic if the reaction is more severe than explained.

Can you remove every brown mark?
No. We need to understand what the mark is, and some conditions require medical assessment or a different approach.
Which is better, Nd:YAG or IPL?
Neither is automatically better. A small discrete spot and widespread uneven tone may call for different techniques.
Will pigmentation return?
It can. Treatment does not stop future sun damage or remove all causes of pigmentation.
How much will my treatment cost?

Can I have treatment on the day of my patch test?
No. Our minimum interval is 48 hours for laser and light treatments. Some circumstances require longer observation. A patch test cannot eliminate every risk.
