Fat freezing, known clinically as cryolipolysis, is designed for pinchable pockets of fat that are hard to shift with diet and exercise alone, such as the tummy, flanks, back or chin.

How it works
The science behind fat freezing
Fat freezing uses carefully controlled cooling to target fat that sits just under the skin. Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the surrounding skin, nerves and muscle, so the cooling is designed to affect the fat while leaving the overlying skin unharmed.
The cold prompts the treated fat cells to begin a natural, gradual break-down process. Over the following weeks, the body’s own immune system clears the affected cells away through its normal waste processes. Because this happens gradually, results build slowly rather than appearing straight away.
What the studies show
Clinical studies of cryolipolysis have reported reductions in the thickness of the treated fat layer of roughly 10 to 25 per cent per treatment area, measured by ultrasound and callipers, with the change developing over about two to three months. Results vary from person to person, and fat freezing is designed to reduce stubborn pockets rather than to act as a weight-loss treatment.
Radiofrequency and cavitation, included
At Skintastic, every fat freezing session also includes radiofrequency and ultrasonic cavitation at the same appointment, running alongside your treatment at no extra cost. Radiofrequency is used to support firmer-looking skin over the area, and cavitation to help break down fat in the treated zone. There are no separate follow-up visits to attend.

Realistic, gradual change
Results appear gradually as the body clears the treated fat, so the fuller effect is usually seen at around two to three months. What to expect, and what to consider
Possible side effects
Most people tolerate fat freezing well. Common, temporary effects can include redness, firmness, swelling, bruising, tingling or a dulled sensation in the treated area, which usually settle within a few days to a few weeks. A less common, delayed ache can appear in the days after treatment and eases on its own.
As with any cryolipolysis treatment, there is a rare risk of paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, where the treated area gradually becomes firmer or larger rather than smaller, usually some months later. It is uncommon, and we will explain it fully at your consultation so you can make an informed choice.
Who it may not suit
Fat freezing is not suitable for everyone. We may advise against it, or postpone it, for example during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with certain cold-related conditions, with a hernia in the treatment area, or with some other medical conditions. Your consultation is there to check this properly.
Aftercare and sessions
There is little to no downtime, and most people return to their day straight away. We recommend staying well hydrated, keeping active and eating sensibly to support your results, and we give you written aftercare to take home. Many clients see a difference from a single session in an area, while some choose a short course for stubborn pockets, with any repeat session usually spaced around 8 to 12 weeks apart.

Is radiofrequency and cavitation really included?
Yes. Every fat freezing session includes radiofrequency and cavitation at the same appointment, running alongside your treatment, at no extra cost. There are no separate visits to come back for.
Can I add my chin, or treat several areas at once?
Yes. You can add a chin applicator for £50, or treat all three areas together for £150, which is the best value. We confirm which areas are suitable for you at your consultation.
How many sessions will I need, and how far apart?
Many people see a difference from a single session in an area, while some choose a short course for stubborn pockets. Because results build gradually, repeat sessions are usually spaced around 8 to 12 weeks apart. We agree a realistic plan with you.
When will I see results?
Results are not immediate. The treated fat clears gradually, so most people begin to notice a change over the weeks that follow, with the fuller effect at around two to three months.
Is the fat reduction guaranteed?
