Focused ultrasound, delivered to a chosen depth
HIFU focuses ultrasound energy to a precise point beneath the skin rather than heating everything above it. At the right depth that point of heat reaches the SMAS layer, the same structural layer a surgeon tightens in a facelift, and the body responds by remodelling collagen over the following weeks and months.
We do not publish a figure for how long results last, and you should be careful of any supplier who does. It depends on age, skin condition, lifestyle and how many sessions are done, and there is no honest single number to give. Set your clients’ expectations on that basis and they will thank you for it.
Three handles, and the shot counts are guaranteed
Cartridges are the running cost of a HIFU machine, so the shot count is the number that decides what a treatment costs you. All three handles come with the machine as standard.
A note on the name. The machine is sold as a 20D system, but the manufacturer specification gives the multi-line range as 1 to 11 adjustable lines per pass, and that is the figure we publish. If you see it advertised elsewhere as twenty simultaneous lines, ask to see the specification sheet.

We do not supply this machine for intimate or vaginal treatment and we do not sell an intimate probe with it. If that is what you are looking for, speak to us about the MED-870+ CO2 instead, which is a registered medical device with the correct handpieces and the manufacturer’s own clinical protocol behind it.
Six depths, five frequencies, and you set the energy
The depth is chosen by the cartridge and the frequency, and the energy is set on the screen. That combination is what lets one machine treat the fine skin around an eye and the skin over an abdomen without compromise.

What this machine is, and what it is not
We are a supplier of MHRA registered medical lasers as well as cosmetic devices, and we are careful about the difference. It matters to your insurer and it matters to your council.
It is a cosmetic device
The Smasfocus X 20D is supplied for professional cosmetic use. It is not a medical device, it is not registered with the MHRA, and we will never describe it as either. Anyone selling you a HIFU machine as MHRA registered or MHRA approved is misleading you.
It is not a laser
HIFU is ultrasound, not light. It does not fall under the laser and intense pulsed light rules, so it does not need a Laser Protection Adviser and it is not a Class 4 laser. That makes it a simpler machine to bring into a clinic than a laser.
Two things to check for yourself before you buy. First, that your insurer covers HIFU and covers the specific areas you intend to treat, because policies vary more on HIFU than on almost anything else. Second, whether your local authority treats HIFU as a special treatment requiring a licence. Most do not, but some London boroughs write their special treatment conditions widely and it is a five minute phone call to be sure. We will help you with the wording if it is useful.

You will not find a revenue projection or a payback period in it. Those figures depend on your pricing, your area and your diary, and a supplier who puts them in a brochure is guessing on your behalf. Most clinics finance rather than buy outright, and the Smasfocus X 20D is available on business equipment finance over two, three, four or five years. Finance is subject to status and to lender approval. Arranged through Kennet Equipment Leasing Ltd, who work with a panel of lenders.
