About

What this qualification is

A nationally regulated qualification providing the essential knowledge and understanding of human anatomy and physiology needed across the health, beauty and fitness sectors.

It is most often taken as underpinning knowledge before progressing to advanced aesthetic, laser and body-contouring qualifications. If a Level 4 or Level 5 you want asks for a regulated Level 3 in anatomy and physiology, this is that qualification.

At 8 credits and 70 guided learning hours it is the smallest of our regulated qualifications, which makes it a sensible first step if you have never taken a regulated qualification before.

1

Nationally regulated

Awarded by Focus Awards and regulated by Ofqual on the Regulated Qualifications Framework, under qualification number 603/5961/4.

2

Portfolio assessed

Internally assessed through a portfolio of evidence. There are no external written examinations. Available in England and Northern Ireland.

3

Delivered by us

Taught at our Southampton academy by an approved Focus Awards centre, with a retired senior nurse as Internal Quality Assurer.

Entry requirements

This is the most open of our regulated qualifications.

  • No formal prior qualification is required, and the qualification is suitable for all levels
  • The Academy may set additional entry criteria where appropriate
  • Learners should be aged 16 or over

If you are taking this in order to progress on to a Level 4 or Level 5, tell us when you enrol. We will make sure the one you take is the one your next qualification actually asks for.

Enrol

How to book your place

Enrolment runs through our own shop, so you get a receipt, an order record and the usual consumer protections.

1

Pay in full

£399 by card, Apple Pay or PayPal. Your place is confirmed once payment clears and we will be in touch to arrange dates.

2

Spread the cost

Klarna is offered at the checkout, subject to their own eligibility check. We do not make that decision and we do not see your credit file.

3

Not sure yet?

Message us first. We would rather talk the workload and the timescale through with you than take a booking that turns out to be the wrong fit.

Card, Apple Pay, Klarna and PayPal are all available at the checkout. Klarna and other pay-later options are subject to their own eligibility checks, which are made by them and not by us.

Afterwards

Do not take our word for it

We would rather you verified this than trusted a logo on a certificate.

  • Go to the Ofqual public register and search 603/5961/4
  • You will see the awarding organisation, the level, the credits and whether the qualification is still being awarded
  • Approved centre status is granted by the awarding organisation rather than by Ofqual, so to confirm we are an approved Focus Awards centre, ask Focus Awards directly
  • If a provider cannot give you a qualification number, it is not a regulated qualification, whatever the certificate looks like
Common questions

Questions students ask us most

Do I need any qualifications to start?

No. There is no formal prior qualification requirement and it is suitable for all levels. You should be aged 16 or over.

Is there an exam?

No. It is internally assessed through a portfolio of evidence, with no external written examinations.

Will this get me on to the Level 5 Tattoo Removal?

It is one of the three accepted entry routes, yes. The others are a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification or occupational competence in tattooing.

How is it different from a CPD anatomy course?

This is a regulated qualification with a number you can look up on the Ofqual register. A CPD certificate evidences that training was delivered and independently reviewed, but is not on the register.
