An advanced CPD course for qualified laser professionals who want to add the targeted removal of facial and scalp micropigmentation to their clinic. It covers eyeliner tattoos, eyebrow micropigmentation, lip liner pigment and scalp micropigmentation (SMP), and deals with the pigment depth, ink composition and facial anatomy that make SPMU removal different from conventional tattoo removal.
Training is delivered by Carla Cooper-Gale, UK Responsible Person with the MHRA, Level 5 laser practitioner, IQA and assessor, and combines LPA-compliant laser protocols with advanced clinical decision making.
Who this course is for
This is an advanced module, not an entry-level one. Before booking you will need:
- A recognised Level 5 Laser Tattoo Removal Diploma
- A recognised advanced skin science qualification
- A valid Laser and IPL Core of Knowledge certificate
- Current professional indemnity insurance
- LPA-approved Local Rules in place at your premises

Learning outcomes
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Differentiate SPMU pigments from traditional tattoo pigments in composition, depth and laser response
- Assess a client’s suitability and prepare them safely for laser SPMU and SMP removal
- Identify and risk-assess complications, contra-indications and high-risk areas before treatment
- Select and safely operate Q-switched Nd:YAG laser parameters for brow, eyeliner and lip tattoo removal, and for SMP
- Formulate and deliver aftercare tailored to each SPMU and SMP procedure
Duration and delivery
One full day: eight hours of practical training with two hours of online theory. Learning materials include your own training manual and workbook, a presentation, videos and handouts, all of which are yours to keep.
Assessment and certification
Assessment is by online theory, practical study and activities, written and oral questioning, and self-evaluation. Two case studies are submitted within three months of the course. On successful completion you receive a CPD-accredited certificate.
